Welcome to the LGFC web site

Lostock Gralam F.C is not only one of the oldest football teams in Cheshire but also in England. Founded in 1892, The Grey Lambs have always been at the forefront of promoting amateur football in the county and helping to establish the Mid-Cheshire League in 1948, which has produced some outstanding sides and players.

Playing their home games at The Park Stadium on Manchester Road, Lostock, behind the Slow & Easy Hotel a ground that has seen football played on it for over 100 years, The Grey Lambs are looking to provide new facilities to develop football with the youngsters within the area and so maintain the tradition which for so long has been associated with Lostock Gralam F.C.

With the introduction of a reserve team in July 2006 in to the Crewe & District League and with applications for funding underway, The Grey Lambs are looking to return to the top of the amateur league, which has eluded them for the past couple of years.

Bithell Back for Lostock

Preparations for the new season are well underway at Lostock with Neil Bithell back for a second spell as manager, this time assisted by Pat Collins with Ross Speight as Coach and Ted Harrison continuing as manager of the reserve team.

Bithell said –

“I’m glad to be back as this is a club that’s heading in the right direction with the work going on behind the scenes to improve the facilities. The team is stronger than when I left and there’s some really good young players coming with me, so we’re looking forward to getting started.”

Pre season has been excellent so far, with Bithells contacts enabling a rare opportunity to train at Manchester United’s illustrious Carrington Complex on Saturday morning ahead of the friendly game against Staffords Champions Hanley Town. Tired legs could therefore be blamed for the 4 – 3 reversal after racing to a 2 goal lead, but use of a full 24 man squad and goals from Ryan Millington (2) and Bryan Gunn proved a very good workout for the day. Earlier in the week, Lostock had also drawn with local rivals Barnton with goals from Palmer and Latham.

Exciting Times

The club is awaiting a much anticipated decision from the Football Foundation as to whether they will fund nearly £500,000 worth of improvement work to the ground to provide new changing rooms and clubhouse and complete overhaul of the existing senior and junior pitch.

Club Secretary James Birdsey said -

“We’ve been waiting a long time for a decision now as putting together a project of this magnitude for a community club is hard work, but the finishing line is now in sight and we hope to be able to commence work this season if successful”.

It won't be long before Lostock Gralam F.C will be back where they belong contesting for the trophies that amateur football has to offer.
